Weekly Post #3 - 16/01/2026

What a week, huh?
I didn’t get half as much done on here as I wanted to - lots of project work this week and then personal stuff in the evenings. I’m not sweating it - this is hobby and I’m happy to devote free time as and when I get it, which sometimes isn’t going to be that much.
The main post this week was a look at how to ingest Azure sign-in logs into Grafana and then query them to generate some really useful insights into user activity.
I love Grafana, and try to get as much data into it as possible. We also have Intune data available in there, so at some point I’ll do a look at how that works and what you can glean from it. I also want to get network traffic in there and start visualising that, but I think I’m going to need more storage…
I’m still working on the MFA config post I promised - it will come hopefully next week. I’m also putting together a deep dive on LLDP because I got sidetracked by that this week, but I’m trying to decide how far down the rabbit hole to go. So far I’ve got a Python script that will generate LLDP packets, but do I want to go further and try to demo exploiting some known vulnerabilities? I think it would be cool, I just need to find the time.
I have made a couple of small changes to the site. I messed around with the social media plugin until I could get both Bluesky and RSS options in the footer in addition to X. Even though the RSS feed is generated by default on Publii, there didn't seem to be a way to publish it natively.
I’ve also added the option to share posts directly to Bluesky, should you be inclined.
I will get other socials in the sharing menu at some point but probably not the footer; I don't want to have to manage that many accounts.
My next mission will be the search function. I have been testing it and it seems to get some posts but not others. I think maybe because it queries the RSS, but I haven't had chance to look at it properly. Querying the RSS also seems like it might not be the most effective method once the site gets larger, so some kind of index will definitely be required.
I’ll leave it there for this week. Hopefully I’ll have more time to get some posts done soon.
